Who runs this site
Set Up My Watch is run by Catalin Alexandru, an engineer based in the UK, who is responsible for this site and for any data described on this page. More about the site and how the guides are checked is on the About page.
Analytics only with your consent
We'd like to use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which guides are useful. It only runs if you click Accept on the cookie banner. If you click Reject, or don't choose, Google's analytics script is never loaded and nothing is sent to Google.
If you accept, Google Analytics collects:
- the pages and guides you view, page titles, and the site that sent you here (referrer);
- your device type, browser, operating system, screen size and language;
- your approximate location (country or city), worked out from your IP address. Google Analytics 4 doesn't log or store IP addresses;
- basic interactions such as scrolls, outbound link clicks and time on page.
It sets first-party cookies named _ga and _ga_3DXYEX3DPW to tell visits apart. They last up to 2 years. Google processes the data for us; it can be transferred to the US under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and its UK extension. Analytics data is kept for the retention period set in our account (2 months by default, never more than 14 months). Advertising storage and ad personalisation stay switched off. The legal basis is your consent (UK and EU GDPR Article 6(1)(a), and the UK PECR / EU ePrivacy rules on cookies).
Changing your choice
Click at the bottom of any page to open the banner again and pick Accept or Reject. Rejecting after accepting stops analytics straight away and deletes the Google Analytics cookies on this site. Your choice is saved in your browser's local storage (key smw-consent), not in a cookie and not on our servers. Clearing your browser's site data resets it.
No ads
There are no adverts on this site right now. If we add them later, we'll update this page and ask for your consent separately before any advertising cookies are used.
Your location
To show today's moon phase, the guide can ask your browser for your location. That location is used only inside your browser to calculate the moon phase and local time. It is never sent to us. If you search for a city instead, the name you type is sent to the Open-Meteo geocoding service to look up its coordinates.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes your IP address and basic request details to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Your rights and contact
You can ask what data we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by emailing catalin97alex@gmail.com. We don't hold any personal data ourselves; analytics data is pseudonymous and held in Google Analytics. In the UK you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
